Erasmus+ Support for the PRISTINE VET Project Led by Our Faculty Member

The project under the coordination of our faculty member Prof. Dr. Güven Kömürgöz Kırış at ITU has been awarded a grant under the ERASMUS Lump Sum Grants program. The project, titled “Promoting Renewable and Innovative Sustainable Technologies in Natural Environments through Vocational Education and Training in West Africa (PRISTINE VET),” will be carried out over a period of two years by partners from six countries.

Our Faculty Member Appointed Director of the Climate Change Regional Activity Centre (CC/RAC)

Prof. Dr. S. Levent Kuzu, a faculty member of the Department of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, has been appointed as Director of the Climate Change Regional Activity Centre (CC/RAC) under the United Nations Environment Programme/Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP).

Horizon Europe MSCA-SE Funding Awarded to the “ExCISC – Exchange of Best Practices in Collaborative Intelligence for Safety-Critical Applications” Project

Dr. Mehmet Tunçel, a lecturer at the Istanbul Technical University Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Research and Application Center (ITU AI), is among the beneficiaries of the “ExCISC – Exchange of Best Practices in Collaborative Intelligence for Safety-Critical Applications” project, which has been awarded funding under the European Union Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Staff Exchanges (MSCA-SE) programme.

The ITU Collection, Combining Turkish Design with Chinese Symbolism, Was Exhibited in Hong Kong

Two garments designed by Beyza Nur Yılmaz, a fourth-year student in the Fashion Design Department (UOLP) of the Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design at Istanbul Technical University, and produced by Lecturer Dr. Belgin Görgün, have been selected for exhibition at the international “Threads of Unity: Belt & Road Fashion Gala 2025.” The collection was presented at a fashion show hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).

Our Triathlon Team, representing our university at the Ironstar Egypt Triathlon held in Egypt, secured second place in both the women's and men's 18–24 age groups.

A United Nations Simulation Hosted at ITU with ITUMUN'26

Hosted by Istanbul Technical University, ITUMUN'26 took place at our Ayazağa Campus from January 26-29, 2026. The conference offered a multilingual and international United Nations simulation experience, featuring 14 English-language committees focusing on various themes such as security, human rights, and economics, as well as one French-language committee.
