ITU is at the 17th Pujiang Innovation Forum
ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal attended the 17th Pujiang Innovation Forum, which brings together the science and innovation ecosystem. The forum, held in Shanghai on September 7-10, 2024, brought together scientists, technology entrepreneurs and industry leaders.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal attended the 17th Pujiang Innovation Forum, which has been bringing together the global science and innovation ecosystem since 2008. The international forum, which brings together scientists, industry leaders, technology entrepreneurs and media representatives, was held in Shanghai on September 7-10, 2024.
In his speech at the opening of the event organized with the theme of “Sharing Innovation and Shaping the Future” this year, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mandal emphasized the increasing risks on a global scale and discussed the formation processes of risks and solution creation methods, underlining the importance of a cooperation and R&D-oriented culture of working together.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mandal also made a presentation titled “Co-Creation Based Collaboration Opportunities for Materials of the Future” in the “Future Materials: Interdisciplinary Innovation and Sustainable Development” session. In the “Frontier Technology: Shaping the Future and Innovation Cooperation” session, he made a speech on ways to increase the impact of innovative technologies and the importance of platforms for innovative co-creation. In addition to the presentations, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mandal emphasized in all sessions of the forum the leverage effect and power of WAITRO (World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations), of which he is the president, in national and international areas.
The four-day forum featured presentations by experts including their ideas and experiences on many topics such as the contribution of scientific and technological innovation to the world economy, artificial intelligence, disruptive technologies and the construction of modern industrial systems.
