Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal Took Office

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal received the mandate letter for his appointment from the Council of Higher Education President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar during his visit to Ankara on August 21.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal has officially started his duty. Taking over from Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu with the appointment decision published in the Official Gazette on August 16, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal started his heavy work with the visits he made to Ankara on August 21.

“To lead scientific research and innovative projects”

The first stop of our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal’s Ankara visits was the Ministry of Industry and Technology. After his visit to the Minister of Industry and Technology M. Fatih Kacır, Prof. Dr. Mandal met with the CoHE President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. The CoHE President presented our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal with his mandate letter and expressed his wishes for success.

Our Rector emphasized his responsibility while receiving his mandate letter: “I am proud and excited to officially start my duty as the Rector of Istanbul Technical University. Today, I have taken over this important responsibility by receiving my mandate letter from our CoHE President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. I take on this duty with great excitement and responsibility in order to carry our university forward and to lead scientific research and innovative projects that will contribute to the future of our country.”

“We will take new steps together”

Our Rector also pointed out that they aim to contribute to our country and humanity together with the ITU Family in the new period: “Istanbul Technical University has been one of the leading institutions in our country in the fields of science, engineering and technology throughout its history. We will work together to ensure that our university with this long-established history undertakes projects that are renowned not only in Türkiye but also in the world. We will take new steps together in ITU’s 250-year progress on the path of science, and we will mobilize as the entire ITU Family to contribute to the national technology initiative and produce beneficial outcomes for humanity…”

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, who officially started his duty, expressed his goal of writing new success stories with the following words: “I believe that we will undertake important projects to make our university even stronger in the national and international arena. Our greatest goal will be to write new success stories in education, research and contributing to society. I would like to sincerely thank our previous Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, who made significant contributions to our university, and all ITU members who contributed to our 250-year history. We will transform the future together by continuing to research and learn together in the light of science.”
