“Brancusi and His Contribution to Universal Art and Culture International Symposium”, organized by Istanbul Technical University in collaboration with the Istanbul Art and Culture Association and the Romanian-Turkish Association “Art Beyond Borders” as part of World Art Day, brought together art lovers with field experts on April 18, 2024 at ITU Taşkışla Campus.
At the opening of the symposium, which hosted scientific papers by experts on the works and artist personality of Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi, who is considered the “father of abstract sculpture”, our Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Deniz expressed that culture and art are special areas that nourish engineering and architectural activities and said the following:
“I believe that it is a necessity to study in detail the legacy of extraordinary artists such as Constantin Brancusi, who earned his place in world history by creating milestone works in his field. Only in this way will it be possible to align current activities in the fields of engineering and architecture with an aesthetic understanding that meets contemporary criteria.”
At the day-long event, Brancusi’s artistic heritage was scrutinized through academic presentations that evaluated various topics such as the impact of Brancusi’s sculptures on public spaces, the role they play in urban life, and their harmony with architecture.
