Graduate Course by Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı at ITU
Türkiye’s first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı will give a graduate level course at Istanbul Technical University in the 2023-2024 Spring Semester as part of the “Sector on Campus” program.

ITU continues to achieve firsts by organizing educational activities that bring young engineers together with up-to-date information and knowledge of experts. Alper Gezeravcı, the first Turkish astronaut who was sent to the International Space Station to carry out scientific activities as part of the “First Manned Space Mission of Türkiye” and spent 22 days in space, will give a course to graduate students at ITU in the 2023-2024 Spring Semester. The course, coordinated by Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Department of Aeronautical Engineering faculty member Prof. Dr. Halit Süleyman Türkmen, will be held online.
The course titled “Special Topics in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering” and organized through the cooperation of Istanbul Technical University, Ministry of Industry and Technology, and the Turkish Space Agency as part of the “Sector on Campus” program, which aims to provide students with up-to-date information about their fields from sector professionals, will focus on Gezeravcı’s space experience and scientific activities as well as the latest developments in aeronautical and astronautical engineering.
