Interfaculty Student Volleyball Tournament Started at ITU
The volleyball tournament, in which our students competed on behalf of their faculties, started at the Central Sports Hall on February 19. In the opening match, the Maritime Faculty and the Faculty of Science and Letters played against each other in the women’s category.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) supports the social and physical development of its students through sports organizations. The Interfaculty Student Volleyball Tournament, in which student teams compete fiercely this year as every year, started at the Central Sports Hall on February 19. A total of 24 teams, 11 women and 13 men, represent their faculties in the tournament.
Dean of Faculty of Science and Letters Prof. Dr. Esra Alveroğlu Durucu, Department of Physical Education Chair Dr. Yaşar Volkan Arıncı, and Health, Culture and Sports Director Yusuf Ziya Öztürk attended the opening ceremony of the tournament.
The captains presented flowers before the match
The Interfaculty Student Volleyball Tournament started with the match between the women’s teams of the Maritime Faculty and the Faculty of Science and Letters. Before the match, the team captains presented flowers to each other, wishing for a good tournament with fair play. The match was refereed by Mert Süreyya Kölköy from the Faculty of Chemical-Metallurgical Engineering and Sefa Ramazan Nacakçı from the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences.
An enthusiastic audience of students, academics and staff took their places in the Central Sports Hall to support their teams in the opening match of the tournament. The Faculty of Science and Letters won the competitive match with a score of 2-0.
The excitement of the tournament will continue in the coming days in both men’s and women’s categories. The doors of the Central Sports Hall will be open to all students who want to watch the matches and support their faculty throughout the tournament.
