100th Anniversary Concert in Sarajevo

“100th Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye Concert,” where notable examples of Turkish music were performed by ITU TMSC Classical Turkish Music Ensemble, gave unforgettable moments to music lovers in Sarajevo on January 26, 2024.

“100th Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye Concert,” organized with the cooperation of Istanbul Technical University, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Yunus Emre Institute, and the International University of Sarajevo, brought together music lovers in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, on January 26, 2024. At the opening of the concert given by the ITU TMSC Classical Turkish Music Ensemble, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu emphasized the pride of celebrating the 250th anniversary of ITU in the 100th anniversary of our Republic and addressed the audience as follows: “In this beautiful evening that will remain in our memories, we will witness a historical section of our musical tradition. Once again, I would like to sincerely thank all our friends who worked hard for this beautiful concert, in which they will give us a unique musical feast.”

Pointing out that the International University of Sarajevo, the first foundation university of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is celebrating its 20th anniversary, Prof. Dr. Koyuncu expressed that inter-university interaction will pave the way for fruitful academic and cultural activities. The concert, which was listened to with great interest by a large audience throughout the evening, witnessed unforgettable moments for music lovers, and once again drew attention to ITU’s emphasis on “global impact” in the fields of science and art.

While the soloists Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinem Özdemir Göçeri, Lect. Gülşah Sönmez, Sait Berker Seymenoğlu, and Ali Mert Paşalı gave the audience an unforgettable evening with exquisite works of Turkish music, instrumentalists Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Kostak Toksoy (kanun), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neva Özgen Köseoğlu (classical kemençe), Lect. Sarper Eroğlu (oud), Berke Yiğit Satılmış (clarinet), Mevlüt Gökhan Başin (percussion) and Bünyamin Oral (percussion) brought the music to life with their performances.
