Our Academics were Elected as TÜBA Members

Our faculty members Prof. Dr. Esra Çapanoğlu Güven and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Evren Erşahin were elected as TÜBA Members at the 60th TÜBA General Assembly held on December 2, 2023.

“TÜBA’s 60th General Assembly and General Assembly Conference” organized by the Turkish Academy of Sciences was held in Ankara on December 2, 2023. During the event attended by TÜBA members, rectors, and heads of institutions; full members and associate members who will take part in TÜBA’s activities were elected.

During the event, ITU Faculty of Chemical-Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Food Engineering faculty member Prof. Dr. Esra Çapanoğlu Güven and ITU Dean of Research and Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Evren Erşahin were elected as TÜBA Members upon the suggestion of the academy members.

Who is Prof. Dr. Esra Çapanoğlu Güven?

She completed her undergraduate in 1999, master’s in 2002 and Ph.D. in 2008 at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Food Engineering. Working at Istanbul Technical University since 2000, Prof. Dr. Çapanoğlu Güven received many awards, including George Forster Award and Highly Cited Researcher Award.

Who is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Evren Erşahin?

He completed his undergraduate at Trakya University Department of Environmental Engineering, and his master’s at Istanbul Technical University Department of Environmental Engineering. He completed his Ph.D. in 2015 under a joint program between Istanbul Technical University and Delft University of Technology. Working at ITU Department of Environmental Engineering since 2005, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erşahin received awards including Waternet Watercycle Innovation Award and German Water Partnership Award.
