4 Awards from TÜBA to ITU

TÜBA announced the winners of the 2023 GEBİP and TESEP Awards. ITU academics, who received 4 awards, attracted attention with their scientific achievements.

Istanbul Technical University continues to stand out with the awards its faculty members receive for their qualified contributions to both the national and international scientific environment. Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) announced the winners of the 2023 Outstanding Young Scientist (GEBİP) and Scientific Authored Book (TESEP) Awards. ITU academics who were entitled to receive awards drew attention with their success.

Outstanding Young Scientist Award

Within the scope of the TÜBA-GEBİP Awards, which are given to influential young scientists in the fields of nature, engineering, health sciences and social sciences in order to encourage scientific studies at the international level originating from Türkiye, ITU Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Chemistry faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fuat Topuz received award in the “Natural Sciences” category, while ITU Faculty of Chemical Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nil Özbek and ITU Faculty of Chemical Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Materials Engineering faculty member Dr. Faiz Muhaffel were awarded in the “Engineering” field.

Scientific Authored Book Award

Within the scope of TÜBA-TESEP Awards, which aim to increase scientific publications and support the production of copyrighted works by academics, ITU Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management Institute, Department of Emergency and Disaster Management faculty member Prof. Dr. Mikdat Kadıoğlu received award in the “Natural and Engineering Sciences” category with his work titled Introduction to Aviation Meteorology.
