Honorary Doctorate to Our Graduate Hasan Büyükdede

Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering 1972 graduate Hasan Büyükdede was awarded an honorary doctorate at a ceremony held at ITU Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on November 9, 2023.

Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering 1972 graduate Hasan Büyükdede was awarded an honorary doctorate at a ceremony held at ITU Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on November 9, 2023.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu made the following remarks in the opening speech of the ceremony: “Our esteemed graduate has made many pioneering efforts for the development of policies that will provide breakthroughs in critical technologies with his work in the field of industry, both locally and internationally.” Our Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Şule Itır Satoğlu, representing the senate, explained the reason for the honorary doctorate with the following words:

“We are proud to present Hasan Büyükdede with an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his encouragement and efforts for the development of an industrialism perspective based on efficiency and sustainability, for the increase of technological and industrial activities focusing on concepts such as economic development and social development, and his contributions to the increase of the respectability of domestic production.”

After the presentation of the honorary doctorate certificate by our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu and Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Dr. Çetin Ali Dönmez, Hasan Büyükdede expressed his happiness in his speech: “ITU has been my family with which I have been in contact for its development throughout my life. Being a member of ITU is the greatest prestige... The honorary doctorate degree awarded to me today is one of the greatest honors for me.”
