Commemoration Ceremony on the 100th Anniversary of our Republic

The 100th Anniversary of our Republic was celebrated at ITU Ayazağa Campus. At the ceremony in front of the Rectorate Atatürk Monument, ITU members shared the enthusiasm of 29 October Republic Day.

The 100th Anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a ceremony held at Istanbul Technical University Ayazağa Campus. The program, where ITU academics and students met in front of the Rectorate Atatürk Monument and shared the enthusiasm of 29 October Republic Day, started with a moment of silence after the National Anthem.

After laying a wreath at the Atatürk Monument, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu emphasized the role that Istanbul Technical University aims to undertake in the new century of the Republic of Türkiye and its vision of transforming the future by saying, “We are striving to transfer the values of the Republic that we inherited from the past, under the guidance of science, to future generations and to the ITU students who have newly joined us.”

Reminding that the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye is also the 250th anniversary of the establishment of ITU, Prof. Dr. Koyuncu concluded his speech with the following words: “On behalf of the ITU Family, we commemorate with respect and mercy especially Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our country, and his comrades in arms, who proclaimed the Republic as a sign of our independence exactly 100 years ago, and all our heroic martyrs, who made it possible for our Republic to reach today.”
