Solar Observation Event at ITU

At the 5th ITU Solar Observation Event, ITU students interested in astronomy examined the Sun and Sunspots.

As part of the 250th Anniversary Events of Istanbul Technical University, the Sunspot Observation Event was held on May 25, 2023 by the Upper Atmosphere and Space Weather Laboratory of the Meteorological Engineering Department.

During the event held in the garden of the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics in our Ayazağa Campus, the participants examined the Sun and Sunspots with telescopes with different filters. In addition to short animations about space weather, information about the Upper Atmosphere and Space Weather Laboratory was also given at the event. Students and astronomy enthusiasts had the chance to learn from experts on many subjects related to space weather and solar activities.
