Our Graduate Won First Place in TÜBA-Teknofest Doctorate Science Awards

ITU Computer Engineering PhD Program’s 2022 graduate Dr. Tuğçe Bilen was awarded the first prize in the field of Natural and Engineering Sciences in the 2023 TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctorate Science Awards for her thesis titled “Artificial Intelligence Based and Digital Twin Enabled Aeronautical Ad-Hoc Network Management”.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues to focus on groundbreaking and innovative technology production as part of its vision to transform the future. Within the scope of TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctorate Science Awards, organized for the third time this year, ITU Computer Engineering PhD graduate Dr. Tuğçe Bilen won the first place in the field of Natural and Engineering Sciences with her PhD thesis titled “Artificial Intelligence Based and Digital Twin Enabled Aeronautical Ad-Hoc Network Management”. Our graduate completed her PhD thesis under the supervision of ITU Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Berk Canberk.

ITU graduate Dr. Tuğçe Bilen’s award was presented by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank at Teknofest held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport between April 27 and May 1, 2023. Our graduate also received a monetary award of 75 thousand TL.

Dr. Tuğçe Bilen’s PhD thesis titled “Artificial Intelligence Based and Digital Twin Enabled Aeronautical Ad-Hoc Network Management”, prepared under the supervision of our faculty member Prof. Dr. Berk Canberk, brings an innovative perspective towards meeting the uninterrupted and fast internet demand of passengers using air transportation.

TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker emphasized that the aim of the Teknofest Doctorate Science Awards is to encourage high quality studies. Prof. Dr. Şeker added that doctoral theses that surpass their counterparts create great satisfaction in academia with their innovative aspects and provide high added value to our country.

TÜBA-Teknofest Doctorate Science Awards

Doctorate Science Awards are given to scientists who apply with their PhD theses completed and defended in priority areas of Teknofest. Priority areas include: technology and design; information and communication technologies; education, health, agriculture and ecology technologies and biotechnology; and international relations, development policies, educational approaches, security policies of the National Technology Move.

About Dr. Tuğçe Bilen

Dr. Tuğçe Bilen received her B.Sc. degree in ITU Computer Engineering in 2015, and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in ITU Computer Engineering program in 2017 and 2022, respectively. Dr. Tuğçe Bilen, who was a research assistant at our university between 2018-2021, is currently working as an Innovation Development Specialist at Türk Telekom.
