FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball excitement at ITU

Istanbul Technical University shares the excitement of the FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball championship to be held in Istanbul on October 27-29. Universities from all over the world and teams representing our country will compete at Ayazağa Campus.

In its 250th year, Istanbul Technical University is hosting the inter-university world cup matches of 3x3 basketball, a young and dynamic sport. Our university is participating in the International University Sports Federation (FISU) University World Cup 3x3 Basketball competition, which will be held in Istanbul on October 27-29, with the matches to be played on our Ayazağa Campus. Besides ITU, FISU, Turkish University Sports Federation, Beyoğlu Municipality, Ministry of Youth and Sports are among the stakeholders of the competition. 

12 men’s and 12 women’s 3x3 basketball teams from all over the world, including continental champions, are participating in the competition. ITU Men’s Basketball Team will compete to win the world cup on the 250th anniversary of the establishment of our university. Gazi University and Celal Bayar University from our country will also take part in the competition. In the 3x3 basketball matches, teams from many universities from Europe to Africa, from America to Asia will compete to reach the finals. The world cup final match will be held at Galataport. All matches will be broadcast live for basketball fans. 

The world’s most popular street game

3x3 basketball, which is developing rapidly and growing in popularity apart from basketball, is known as the most popular street team sport in the world. Organized for the first time in 2011, the FISU University 3x3 Basketball World Cup competition was held in Serbia, Brazil and China before Türkiye.
