“ITU 250th Anniversary Sports Events” organized by the Department of Physical Education as part of Istanbul Technical University 250th Anniversary Events ended with an award ceremony on Friday, May 27, 2022. At the closing ceremony held at our University’s Ayazağa Campus Central Sports Hall with the participation of our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, students and staff who ranked in different branches and categories were awarded.
In the 250th Anniversary Sports Events, which started on February 28 and lasted for two months, a total of 1,682 ITU members from all faculties and institutes of ITU including students, and academic and administrative staff took part in the competitions. Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu also took his place in the academic staff team in the Academic - Administrative Staff football match held as part of the events.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Koyuncu, who shared the excitement of the tournament with ITU members with two goals and an assist, stated in his closing speech that there were many beautiful scenes in the matches that were played in a spirit of “fair play”. Prof. Dr. Koyuncu proceeded as follows: “In these competitions, the ITU Family experienced the enthusiasm and excitement of being together and entering a friendly competition, as always. I would like to congratulate all our students and staff who won awards in different sports branches and categories. However, awards aside, the most important function of such sporting events is to keep the family together and strengthen the bonds. I believe that our 250th Anniversary Sports Events have fulfilled this function to a great extent. I would like to thank each and every member of the ITU Family for your participation and sporting attitude in the matches.”
Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu gave their awards to our students and staff who ranked in the competitions, and had souvenir photos taken with them.
