Our Master’s Student Won Essay Competition on Artificial Intelligence
Istanbul Technical University Informatics Institute Computer Sciences Department master’s student Beltus Nkwawir Wiysobunri’s essay “A Deep Learning Automatic Tactile Pavement Detection System for the Visually-Impaired” was selected one of the three best essay in the Professional category of COMSTECH-ICYF Essay Competition on Artificial Intelligence.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) organized an essay competition on Artificial Intelligence (AI) open to students and professionals from all Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries (57 member countries).
Informatics Institute Computer Sciences Department master’s student Beltus Nkwawir Wiysobunri represented our university in the competition in the Professional category.
Beltus’s essay “A Deep Learning Automatic Tactile Pavement Detection System for the Visually-Impaired” was selected one of the three best essay in the Professional category of COMSTECH-ICYF Essay Competition on Artificial Intelligence.
Beltus expressed his endless gratitude to his advisors Dr. Hamza Salih Erden and Prof. Dr. Behçet Uğur Toreyin for bringing him to a level to be able to compete in the international arena and win awards one after another.
The competition’s objective is to promote the awareness of AI as a leading technology of the contemporary era and its potential in varied areas of economy and society. The award ceremony is planned to be held online in mid-February 2021.
