İTÜ and University of Strathclyde Launch Joint Undergraduate Program
An international joint undergraduate program between Istanbul Technical University and University of Strathclyde in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is being launched.

An international joint undergraduate program between Istanbul Technical University and University of Strathclyde in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is being launched. Considered one of the leading universities of the world in Scotland-United Kingdom, University of Strathclyde was named The Sunday Times UK University of the Year in 2020.
In 2016, İTÜ and University of Strathclyde had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration. In 2017, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between University of Strathclyde Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering and İTÜ Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences (İTÜ-GİDBF). In 2020, International Joint Undergraduate Program in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering has been approved by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE).
Sharing the program details, İTÜ Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Emin Korkut said,
“Students who will enroll in the program according to their 2021 YKS (Higher Education Institutions Examination) preferences will receive education at İTÜ during the first 2 years and at University of Strathclyde in the 3rd and 4th grades. If İTÜ GİDBF wishes, its faculty members will be able to contribute to the courses in the joint undergraduate program in the 3rd and 4th years at University of Strathclyde. Students will have two advisors in their senior projects: one from İTÜ and the other from University of Strathclyde. If successful students would like to pursue a master’s (M.Sc.) at University of Strathclyde, at the end of their master’s they will receive their degree from University of Strathclyde.”
Scholarship support to students enrolled in the program from foreign sectoral companies
Stating that scholarship support from foreign sectoral companies will also be provided to students within the framework of the program, Korkut said, “If a student achieves 70% or more grade average at the end of the 3rd year, they will be awarded £1000 scholarship. By declaring each other Strategic Partners in project applications, both Strathclyde and İTÜ will be able to benefit from European Union projects, Global Challenges, and Newton-Katip Çelebi Funds. For every 10 registered students who are qualified for studying at University of Strathclyde, one faculty member will be supported for 6 months to do research at University of Strathclyde. This support includes travel, accommodation and living expenses. Or the tuition for the term a doctoral student will be at University of Strathclyde will be covered by University of Strathclyde.”
