Visits from Sudan and Pakistan to ITU

The visits of the Sudanese and Pakistani delegations aimed to strengthen international cooperation and extend ITU’s engineering and technological expertise to different regions of the world.

Prof. Dr. Eisa Bashir Eltayeb, Rector of Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), together with his delegation and H.E. Osama Mahjoub Hassan Dirar, Consul General of the Republic of Sudan in Istanbul, visited Istanbul Technical University (ITU) on August 7. As part of the visit, representatives of SUST and ITU met at the Senate Hall to discuss opportunities for collaboration.

ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal shared his views on the meeting, noting that the university aims to advance the protocol signed between SUST and ITU through concrete initiatives and to strengthen SUST’s research and technological capacity by drawing on ITU’s 253 years of scientific and engineering expertise. He emphasized their commitment to supporting development in science, technology, and highly qualified human capital, particularly in fields such as mining, petroleum, and textiles.

Prof. Dr. Mandal also met with H.E. Khawaja Khurram Naeem, Consul General of Pakistan in Istanbul, at the Rectorate Building on August 10, 2026. During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for scientific and technological cooperation and joint initiatives with Pakistan’s leading universities. He highlighted the rapid development of ITU’s aerospace and aviation technology ecosystem, supported by the university’s strong engineering expertise. Emphasizing ITU’s 253-year heritage in science and engineering and its robust research ecosystem, Prof. Dr. Mandal stated that the university will continue to contribute to the advancement of scientific and technological capacity across different regions of the world.
