Our Faculty Member Appointed Director of the Climate Change Regional Activity Centre (CC/RAC)

Prof. Dr. S. Levent Kuzu, a faculty member of the Department of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, has been appointed as Director of the Climate Change Regional Activity Centre (CC/RAC) under the United Nations Environment Programme/Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP).

The Climate Change Regional Activity Centre (CC/RAC), one of the cornerstones of the Barcelona Convention system, plays a critical thematic role in the protection of the Mediterranean Basin and in the fight against climate change. Established in Istanbul, hosted by Türkiye, in accordance with the decisions taken at the 22nd Conference of the Parties (COP22) held in Antalya on December 7-10, 2021, this Centre coordinates climate change adaptation and resilience strategies between Mediterranean countries and the European Union.

Our faculty member Prof. Dr. S. Levent Kuzu took over the position of CC/RAC director from Dr. Mustafa Başkara at the UNEP/MAP Management Board Meeting held at the CC/RAC Office in Fikirtepe, Istanbul, on January 28-29, 2026.
