Strong Partnership with Poland in the International Arena by ITU

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues to expand its global academic network in line with its international vision. ITU has signed a strategic cooperation protocol with the University of Gdańsk, one of Poland's most prestigious institutions.

Taking steps towards strengthening international academic collaborations and establishing permanent areas of interaction between universities, ITU has forged a significant partnership with the University of Gdańsk in Poland.

A “Poland–Türkiye Studies Center” is being established with the University of Gdańsk

ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal welcomed Prof. Dr. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of Gdańsk University, one of Poland's leading higher education institutions, and President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP). During the meeting held at our Ayazağa Campus on January 23, 2026, the foundations were laid for long-term and institutionalized cooperation in the fields of education, research, and academic interaction.

During the meeting, our Rector stated that opportunities for cooperation in advanced and strategic fields such as quantum technologies, nanotechnology, molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology were discussed. He thanked Prof. Dr. Piotr Stepnowski for his valuable contributions to inter-university cooperation and for his kind visit. As the most concrete outcome of the visit, a cooperation protocol was signed for the establishment of the Poland–Türkiye Studies Center at Gdańsk University.
