ITU Pond is Waiting for Your Sustainable Ecosystem Ideas

The “Sustainable Future for ITU Pond” Project Competition, which aims to develop sustainable and innovative ideas for ITU Pond, located at Istanbul Technical University's Ayazağa Campus and one of the campus's important ecosystem areas, has begun.

Within the scope of the competition, projects aimed at increasing the ecological resilience of the pond and its water resources in the face of the effects of global climate change are expected.

The ITU Pond, located in the Ayazağa Campus, which has been selected as Türkiye’s most sustainable campus for nine consecutive years in the UI GreenMetric ranking, plays an important role in campus life as a living ecosystem. Along with the competition, the aim is to develop ideas that integrate nature-based spatial solutions with engineering approaches to support the pond’s landscape and ecosystem.

Within the scope of the competition, projects that combine nature-based solutions, pond landscaping, and ecosystem-focused approaches with engineering solutions will be evaluated. The winning project is planned to be implemented at the Ayazağa Campus.

The deadline for applications for the “Sustainable Future for ITU Pond” Project Competition is May 15, 2026.
