Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal Among the Türkiye’s Most Influential Names on LinkedIn

ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal ranked 12th on Favikon’s list of “Top 20 LinkedIn Influencers in Türkiye in 2026.”

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, who has over 61,000 followers on LinkedIn, ranked 12th on the “Top 20 LinkedIn Influencers in Türkiye in 2026” list with a score of 95.4 out of 100.

In its statement regarding the list, Favikon highlighted Prof. Dr. Mandal’s collaborative and innovative approach focused on developing technology and education in Türkiye, his leadership roles, and his significant contributions to science and engineering in Türkiye.

The “Top 20 LinkedIn Influencers in Türkiye in 2026” list highlights professionals who shape the business world, careers, and industries. Based on reach and engagement, the list features the 20 most influential LinkedIn users in Türkiye for 2026.

About Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal graduated from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1987 and completed his doctorate at Newcastle University in the UK in 1992. Prof. Dr. Mandal continued his postdoctoral research at Karlsruhe University in Germany.

Prof. Dr. Mandal began his academic career at Anadolu University in 1994, becoming an associate professor in 1996 and a professor in 2001. Prof. Dr. Mandal served as Vice Rector at Sabancı University between 2011 and 2015, became a member of the Council of Higher Education in 2015, and later served as Deputy Chair of CoHE. Prof. Dr. Mandal served as President of TÜBİTAK between 2018 and 2024 and currently serves as Rector of Istanbul Technical University.

Prof. Dr. Mandal continues his work to contribute to Türkiye’s science and technology vision in areas such as developing the National Technology Initiative, supporting domestic and national production, strengthening the R&D and innovation ecosystem, and promoting entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), the World Academy of Ceramics (WAC), and the Academia Europaea. He also continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO) and Term Chair of the Board of Directors of EELISA.

Prof. Dr. Mandal has over 150 publications, and his work has been cited more than 2,000 times. With an h-index of 27, Prof. Dr. Mandal also holds 6 international patents. A recipient of the TÜBİTAK Science Award, Prof. Dr. Mandal ranks in the top 2% of the Stanford University list of “The World's Most Influential Scientists.”

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal is married and a father of two.
