Our Academic Received TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Support

Our academic Dr. Dilek Öztürk Yağcı successfully completed a 12-month research project at Trinity College Dublin under the TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship she was awarded. The interdisciplinary perspective gained by Dr. Öztürk Yağcı through this experience has laid a strong foundation for the scientific work she will carry out at ITU.

Dr. Dilek Öztürk Yağcı, a lecturer at the ITU School of Foreign Languages, successfully completed her 12-month research project at the School of English at Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin under the supervision of Prof. Chris Morash.

Dr. Öztürk Yağcı examined how the concepts of space and place in contemporary Irish theater relate to national and cultural identity, social memory, and social life in a project conducted under the TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program.

The study focused on the transformative effect of space in theatrical performances, while topics related to how nature and the environment are reflected in theater and literary narrative were addressed through an interdisciplinary approach.

Throughout the research process, Dr. Öztürk Yağcı conducted archival research at the National Library of Ireland as a continuation of her doctoral studies and completed her book, which will be published next year by Routledge. Furthermore, thanks to the established academic environment at Trinity College Dublin, she had the opportunity to participate in various conferences, develop academic collaborations, and take courses in micro-modules in line with sustainability goals. All these experiences provided her with an interdisciplinary perspective, laying a strong foundation for the scientific work she will carry out at our university.
