ITU’s 2024 End-of-Year Meeting

Our academics, administrative staff, and students came together at the End-of-Year Meeting held at the ITU Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on December 30, 2024.

The traditional End-of-Year Meeting of Istanbul Technical University brought ITU members together at our Ayazağa Campus on December 30, 2024. The End-of-Year Meeting, which started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, continued with a Turkish music concert by ITU TMSC. Following the concert, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal gave a speech.

In his speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal emphasized that the most important value that makes an institution an institution is belonging, which is shaped by the strong relationships our university has established with its alumni, members, stakeholders, and students. He stated that the successes achieved by the ITU Family, inspired by the 251-year-old long-established history of our university, are a reflection of the legacy created together from the past to the present and strong institutional belonging.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal emphasized the pioneering role ITU has played since 1773 in the development and construction of our country, in public-private sector services, and in creating value in national and international fields. He highlighted that the most distinctive feature of ITU is the commitment of its members and students to continue their work with the understanding of "we can do better" following innovations and developments in the scientific world.

The deep and special connection of the bee symbol with our university

Our Rector stated that the bee logo, which has been our symbol since 1929, has a deep and special connection with the values of our university in five main areas: "Diligence and productivity, teamwork, the relationship between engineering and nature, having a deep-rooted history, and sustainability."

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal also mentioned that ITU members who have completed their 30th and 40th years of service are the most concrete examples of belonging to our university. For our retired staff, he stated that retirement is a new beginning of belonging.

Congratulations and thank-you certificates to ITU members

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal presented congratulatory certificates to our academics who received awards and project support from TÜBİTAK, TÜBA, and CoHE, and to our project teams who achieved great success in national and international competitions throughout the year; and thank-you certificates to our staff who retired in 2024 and those who completed their thirtieth and fortieth years at our university.
