THE WUR 2025: ITU's Success in Research and Industry Income Rankings

With its research and innovation-focused vision, ITU maintained its place in the 501-600 range last year despite the increase in the number of universities evaluated in THE World University Rankings (THE WUR) 2025 and improved its position within this range. ITU also demonstrated significant success in the research income and industry income metrics

The 2025 results of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR), one of the most comprehensive analyses considered by students, academics, universities, the business world, and governments globally, have been announced.

ITU ranked in the 501-600 range this year in THE World University Rankings, a global performance indicator that evaluates research-focused universities based on all essential metrics (education, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook). Although the number of assessed universities increased from 1,907 to 2,092 compared to the previous year, ITU remained in the 501-600 range and continued its upward trend globally. Our university maintained its ranking from last year, placing 4^th among 91 universities evaluated in Türkiye.

100 full points for ITU in two metrics

Istanbul Technical University also achieved remarkable success in various pillars and metrics within the scope of THE WUR. ITU, which ranked 182^nd worldwide in university-industry cooperation last year, rose to 174^th place with 91.5 points in 2025. Our university scored 83 points in the patents metric and earned a perfect score of 100 points in industry income.

ITU advanced from 311th place to 251st place in the research environment pillar. It also achieved a perfect score of 100 points in research income, one of the metrics within the research environment.
