Graduation Joy of Our Doctoral Students

ITU 2024 PhD Graduation Ceremony was held on July 4, 2024 at ITU Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center with intense participation.

Istanbul Technical University’s 251st year PhD graduates received their diplomas at a magnificent ceremony held on July 4, 2024. At the PhD Graduation Ceremony, which hosted our graduates with their families at ITU Ayazağa Campus, Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center, “Outstanding Doctoral Awards” and “2023 Best Thesis Awards” were also presented to their owners.

At the opening of the ceremony, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu emphasized the contributions of ITU graduates to the scientific knowledge of our country and the world, highlighted the strong family ties between our graduates, and underlined that ITU is a globally respected educational institution that stands out with its science and research culture. He addressed our graduates with the following words: 

“Whether you continue your academic career or follow your path in the business world, remember this: The ITU badge that you wear will be a symbol of the pride you will carry throughout your life, the “pride of being an ITU member”. No matter where you are in the world, no matter which field you work in, Istanbul Technical University will always be with you. Because bees never break their ties with their hive.”

ITU Outstanding Service Award

At the ceremony, “ITU Outstanding Service Award” was presented to our 1958 Faculty of Civil Engineering graduate Sen. Eng. Haşim Gürdamar for his successfully representing our country in the business world at the international level as well as the contributions he has provided for the raising of our young engineers. Sen. Eng. Gürdamar emphasized in his speech the pride of being a member of the ITU Family and expressed the happiness and pleasure for being given the award. 

The day-long ceremony continued with the speech of the Graduate School Director Prof. Dr. Ahmet Duran Şahin, after which the PhD students were presented their diplomas, and ended with the cap throwing ceremony.
