The opening of the course entitled “Special Topics in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering” to be given in the 2023-2024 Spring Semester to ITU’s graduate students by our national astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, who carried out “First Manned Space Mission of Türkiye”, was made on April 4, 2024, at ITU Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center.
At the opening of Astronaut Gezeravcı’s first lecture at Istanbul Technical University, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu touched upon the importance of trainings that provide opportunities for the development of pioneering initiatives in the fields of space technologies and space industry, and pointed out the need to increase sectoral and scientific awareness about space as follows:
“Our course will focus on Alper Gezeravcı’s space experience and scientific activities in space, as well as the latest developments in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. It will also introduce our students to current data and encourage them to design technologies that will transform the future. Therefore, I hope that what Gezeravcı will teach will create a road map for new generations.”
