Senate Hall Built in Memory of Dr. Üzeyir Garih was Renovated
The Senate Hall built at ITU Gümüşsuyu Campus in memory of ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering graduate Dr. Üzeyir Garih was renovated. ITU graduates showed great interest in the opening ceremony held on December 21.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues to keep alive the names of its graduates who left great marks in our country. The extensive renovation of the Dr. Üzeyir Garih Senate Hall at our Gümüşsuyu Campus and its transformation to enable senate meetings were completed with the contributions of the Support Foundation. The Senate Hall was opened for use with a ceremony held on December 21, 2023.
Renovated spaces at Gümüşsuyu Campus
In his speech at the opening of the Senate Hall, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu pointed out that our graduates who represent ITU in different countries of the world and in our country and who serve the business world and the development of our country are a source of pride.
Speaking about Üzeyir Garih’s sense of belonging to ITU, Prof. Dr. Koyuncu said the following: “One of the precious people who add value to ITU is our esteemed graduate Dr. Üzeyir Garih. He graduated from ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1951 with the title of senior engineer. Our graduate achieved great success in the business world from an early age. Through his contributions to the business world and the foundations and associations of which he was a member, he proudly represented ITU in national and international arenas. For these reasons, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by our University in 1984.”
Our graduates participated intensively in the opening ceremony. The renovated historical front garden, basketball court and artificial turf pitch at our Gümüşsuyu Campus were opened for use on the same day.
