ITU was at Productive Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education Workshop
Productive Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education Workshop, organized by CoHE on December 18, 2023, brought together academics from 28 universities including ITU.

“Productive Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education Workshop,” organized by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) on December 18, 2023, took place with the participation of 55 expert academics from 28 universities including Istanbul Technical University. The meeting held at METU Culture and Convention Center hosted sessions titled “Opportunities and Threats” and “Legal and Ethical Issues” in the use of artificial intelligence.
During the event, which also included a legislative study on the use of artificial intelligence in higher education and was held with the participation of CoHE President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, academics shared their views on the subject. In the program, where the opportunities offered by the effective use of auditory, visual and communication-based artificial intelligence for education were examined, ideas were shared on how artificial intelligence can be synthesized with higher education opportunities.
On behalf of Istanbul Technical University, which established Türkiye’s first Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Department, Faculty of Computer and Informatics faculty members Prof. Dr. Hatice Köse and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülşen Eryiğit, Faculty of Science and Letters faculty members Prof. Dr. Muammer Altan Çakır and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Belkin Yetişkin Doğrusöz, as well as Information Institute faculty members Prof. Dr. Uğur Behçet Töreyin and Prof. Dr. Kemal Bıçakcı attended the workshop. At the event, in which ITU academics also expressed their views, attention was drawn to the positive functions that artificial intelligence can undertake in measurement and evaluation activities in academic education.
