ITU Became the Address of Top Students Again

In its 250th year, as in previous years, ITU attracted great interest from students who made university preference according to YKS 2023 results. ITU was the choice of TYT and YDT Türkiye winners. A total of 102 students from the top 1000 preferred ITU.

Istanbul Technical University, which has come to the fore in recent years with the success scholarships it offers to students in the top 1000 of the YKS ranking, has again become the primary choice of the young people who stepped into university on its 250th anniversary.

Both of Türkiye’s top two winners said ITU

The interest of students, who are in the top 1000 of the YKS ranking, to ITU continued to increase this year as well. A total of 102 students from the top 1000 in YKS 2023 joined the ITU Family. Moreover, according to YKS 2023 placement results, Türkiye’s top student in TYT and Türkiye’s top student in YDT English preferred ITU.

Türkiye’s top student in TYT 2023, Harun Durak, preferred Computer Engineering. Türkiye’s top student in YDT 2023 English, Metin Furkan Amarat, chose Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering.

The number of those from the top 1000 who prefer ITU is increasing every year

Young people who ranked in YKS benefited from the privileged opportunities provided by the success scholarships offered by Istanbul Technical University to the top 1000 students.

In YKS 2023, 6 students from the top 100, 102 students from the top 1000, 213 students from the top 2000, and 356 students from the top 3000 preferred ITU. The number of students from the top 1000 who preferred ITU has been increasing steadily since 2020.

12 of the 100 undergraduate departments with the highest score are at ITU

The most preferred departments at ITU were Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Economics. 12 of the 100 undergraduate departments with the highest score in Türkiye are at ITU. ITU has increased its base scores by an average of 24% in all departments.

ITU raises its success graph

Commenting on the 2023 YKS preference results, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu said, “Istanbul Technical University raises its success graph every year. With the success scholarships we offer, we provide our students with the chance to graduate from the best technical university in Türkiye. Thus, young people, who have just joined the ITU Family, are able to complete their education period by focusing on their courses thanks to scholarship and dormitory opportunities.”

Prof. Dr. Koyuncu emphasized that Istanbul Technical University has attracted great interest from students who have ranked in YKS in recent years and said the following: “For the last three years, with the intense promotional activities we have carried out, ITU has been the primary choice of students who entered the top 1000 in YKS. While we had only 8 students from the top 1000 in 2020, we increased the number to 48 in 2021 by making an intense effort. In 2022, we made a great leap forward and increased this number to 98. In 2023, with another breakthrough, we had a total of 102 students from the top 1000, and we included two top students of Türkiye in the ITU Family. Moreover, this year, 12 of the 100 undergraduate departments with the highest score in Türkiye are at ITU. Thus, ITU has increased its base scores by an average of 24% in all departments.”

ITU supports students with achievement awards

Istanbul Technical University supports its students who are in the top 1000 in YKS with achievement awards. Students in the top 100 are provided with 6,000 TL per month for 12 months without interruption during their education period, the opportunity to study the prepatory class abroad (in the USA) if they wish, lunch scholarship for 9 months every year, free accommodation in a single room in ITU’s high standard dormitories and priority to establish a company in 1773 ITU Technopark.

Students in the top 101-500 have opportunities such as 5,000 TL per month for 12 months without interruption during their education period, lunch scholarship for 9 months every year, free accommodation in a double room in ITU’s dormitories, priority to establish a company in 1773 ITU Technopark.

Students in the top 501-1000 who are placed in an undergraduate program at ITU as their first preference are offered 4,000 TL per month for 12 months without interruption during their education period, lunch scholarship for 9 months every year, 50% discounted accommodation at ITU’s dormitories.

All other students who are placed in an undergraduate program at ITU as their first preference are provided with a monthly scholarship of 2,000 TL. In addition, athlete students are given 1,750 TL scholarship (9 months) during the academic year every year, lunch scholarship, and national athlete students are given registration priority in standard dormitories in ITU Ayazağa Campus.
