ITU Rises in Computer Science

ITU moved one step closer to its target by rising to the 201-250 range in Computer Science field according to “World University Rankings 2023” by Times Higher Education, one of the world’s most prestigious academic rating agencies.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continued its rise in international academic rankings this year as well, according to the results of Times Higher Education “World University Rankings 2023”. ITU increased its score in “Computer Science” field of THE World University Rankings by Subject one step further compared to the previous year and rose from the 251-300 range to the 201-250 range. It maintained its position in the 401-500 range in “Engineering Science” field.

“We aim for the top”

Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu commented on the recently announced “2023 THE World University Rankings” results as follows:

“With its experience and strong tradition of nearly two and a half centuries, Istanbul Technical University continues to add new ones to its national and international achievements day by day. In the recently announced 2023 THE World University Rankings by Subject, we rose one step further and entered the 201-250 range in Computer Science field. With its research outputs, publications, citations, industrial collaborations and educational quality in the field of engineering, our University holds a leading position in our country and a very important place among world universities. The rankings we achieved in subject based rankings by Times Higher Education is a result of this. As ITU, we will continue our upward trend in the coming periods.”

THE World University Rankings 2023

Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings is the only global performance chart that evaluates research-oriented universities in terms of all their core missions (education, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook). It is one of the most comprehensive analyses trusted by students, academics, university administrations, industry and governments.

The performance indicators are grouped into five areas. These are teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research), and industry income (knowledge transfer).
