ITU Press, being restructured in the footsteps of its deep-rooted history, will continue its activities in Mustafa İnan Library. In his speech about ITU Press, which returned to publishing life with a ceremony held on 13 October, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu said, “One of the prominent aspects of guiding and leading universities is the importance they give to scientific publication activities. As a university that has already printed many publications, we attach great importance to publishing academic books and journals.”

225 years of deep-rooted publishing history

Mühendishane Printing House, which was founded in 1797 under the leadership of Mühendishane teacher Abdurrahman Efendi, and started with the printing presses that are the legacy of İbrahim Müteferrika, printed more than a hundred works from its establishment until 1906. Printing activities slowed down during the difficult war years but regained momentum with the establishment of our Republic, and an increasing number of publications were printed every year. The number of scientific publications released by ITU Press since its establishment is approaching 5 thousand. ITU Press, which has been restructured this year and regained momentum, has already published 7 works. In addition, the publishing activities of 12 scientific journals edited by our academics continue within the body of ITU Press.

Thousands of works in digital environment

Another important service provided by ITU Press was the digitization of thousands of works published in the past years. To date, a total of 4,157 books have been digitized and made available to academics and students.
