81 Billion Steps in 81 Provinces

ITU Family participated in the “81 Billion Steps in 81 Provinces” march, one of the events held on June 5, World Environment Day.

United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) has organized World Environment Day annually since 1974. World Environment Day marking started throughout our country with the circular issued by the Presidency for the first time. A series of events are organized to promote sustainable research and education practices and raise awareness of environmental issues.

With the theme of “81 Billion Steps in 81 Provinces” in our country this year, the walking events to draw attention to a healthy environmental life were held in all provinces. In this context, the walking was started in Gülhane Park at 2:30 p.m. and continued until Çatladıkapı Social Facilities. Governorship of Istanbul, municipalities, universities and citizens showed great interest in the event. ITU attended this great event with its students, academicians, and administrative staff.
