Award from Design Week Turkey to ITU Team

Our university team was granted the “Good Design Award” at the Design Week Turkey 2021 Award Ceremony organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) with the coordination of the Ministry of Trade.

Design Week Turkey 2021, organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) with the coordination of the Ministry of Trade in order to create a design culture and introduce designers in Turkey to the world, has ended. There was great interest in the event, which hosted world-renowned designers as speakers in Istanbul.

“Park, Grove and City Forest Identification Unit” designed by Green Istanbul Design Team within Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Parks, Gardens and Green Areas, whose president is Prof. Dr. Yasin Çağatay Seçkin from our Landscape Architecture Department, was granted “Good Design” award in Design Turkey 2021 Industrial Design Awards. The design team includes Department of Industrial Design faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Koray Gelmez and Department of Industrial Design graduates Ezgi Özcan, Gürkay Aydoğmuş, Ahmet Furkan Keleş. The unit, which was produced within the scope of the studies for identification of the green areas in Istanbul, was designed by considering the aesthetic contribution and manufacturability criteria.

This year, the award ceremony of the competition, in which a total of 45 products out of 236 products were awarded, was held on 17 December 2021 at the Haliç Congress Center.

Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards is organized within the TURQUALITY® Program in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and Industrial Designers’ Society of Turkey (ETMK) in order to make visible the benefits of well-designed products to society and the industry by awarding the best design that takes into account the needs of the users in Turkey, brings added value and competitive advantage to the product in export and in the national market.
