Last week ITU Business World Talks hosted Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman and ITU Electrical Engineering 1983 graduate İsmail Gülle. In the meeting moderated by ITU Communication Director Adem Dönmez and held online on ITU’s social media accounts, various topics came up from examples of global entrepreneurship to opportunities in Turkey. In the interview, important information was given for ITU members who want to become entrepreneurs.
“I’m glad that I became an engineer from ITU”
Talking about his years at ITU with longing and expressing that the engineering education he received gave him a clear, objective, and outcome-oriented perspective, Gülle said, “Engineering education gave us analytical thinking and decision making skills. I’m glad that I became an engineer and I’m glad that I became a member of ITU. I’ve seen many benefits of that in every stage of my life. We now try to pass on those gains to young people under the roof of TİM. We are ready to give all kinds of support for education. Let them request, let them ask for it; we as TİM respond to every request and try to help.”
“Each idea is valuable, but it has to meet the right investor”
Expressing that they can help entrepreneurs in meeting investors, İsmail Gülle gave the following hints to those who want to become entrepreneurs: “For being an entrepreneur, you should first of all have courage. Secondly, you should have an idea and convey that idea to the right person. Getting hold of the right time for implementing the idea is the most important factor. As TİM we want to guide and mentor our friends who want to do something in this sense and help them in meeting investors. Each idea is valuable, without comparing with others. Have a go at every idea, tell it; you will definitely get a response. Your idea will then meet the right investor.”
Making a comparison between the entrepreneurship cultures in the global arena and in our country, Gülle said, “With our high technology production in our domestic industry, we are meeting both our own need and the needs of other countries through export. Each idea is valuable, without comparing with others. Have a go at every idea, tell it; you will definitely get a response. Your idea will then meet the right investor.”
