BAGEP Award to Our Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan
The 2021 results of Science Academy’s Young Scientist Awards Program (BAGEP) have been announced. ITU Department of Physics Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan has been awarded.

“BAGEP Awards Program” is being run by the Science Academy since 2013 in order to choose and reward the best young academics and to support them in conducting new studies.
In BAGEP 2021, which rewarded the studies carried out throughout the year by a total of 42 young scientists chosen by the Science Academy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan from ITU Department of Physics Engineering has been awarded the BAGEP 2021 prize.
20,000 TL Support per Year
Our award-winning young academic will be granted 20,000 TL per year for a period of two years to support him in his research. We congratulate our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan and wish him continued success.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan received his Ph.D. degree from Texas A&M University in 2013 and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at University of Groningen between 2013 - 2016. In 2017, he came to Istanbul Technical University with a Marie Curie Cofund grant and started working at the Department of Physics Engineering. Dr. Özkan conducts research on theoretical high energy physics and his research interests are supersymmetric gravity theories, string theory and holographic duality.
