Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has made some changes to conduct research processes more efficiently and effectively. The regulations implemented at ITU aim to promote scientific studies and increase the widespread impact of project outcomes. The changes and details are as follows:
Projects for undergraduate students have been restructured to encourage their participation in research activities. The LÖKAP-T and LÖKAP-A project types are expected to contribute to the development of young researchers.
Support for project teams with LÖKAP-T
With the Undergraduate Student Participation Research Project (Project Teams) (LÖKAP-T), the support budget for project teams has been increased to encourage ITU students to engage in research activities. To apply for this project type, the applying team must represent ITU at TEKNOFEST or at an international organization during the project period.
Encouraging undergraduate students to engage in research with LÖKAP-A
The Undergraduate Student Participation Research Project (Research) (LÖKAP-A) aims to encourage ITU students to engage in research activities. The project team must include an undergraduate student conducting a TÜBİTAK-2209 project. A publication application must be submitted within one year during or after the project.
Platform Project Support Program for projects conducted in cooperation with the private Sector, public, and non-governmental organizations
Within the scope of the program, support will be provided to Platform Projects that promote high-quality scientific and technological collaborations and multidisciplinary research by focusing on Application and Research Centers (Uyg-Ar) and research laboratories with strong research infrastructure.
Platform projects should be designed to be conducted in effective cooperation with industry, private sector, public, and non-governmental organizations. It is expected that the projects supported within the program will have input-output relationships with each other and include at least one project with widespread social impact.
The upper limits for project support have increased
The upper limits for project support have been increased by 50%.
Criteria for covering the publication fees of articles within the scope of projects
Notable arrangements have been made regarding the coverage of publication fees of articles within the scope of projects.
o Provided it is limited to the project duration, part or all of the publication cost of the research article emerging from the project can be covered by the project budget.
o This research article should be specified as an output targeted within a work package aimed at increasing the widespread impact of the project.
o The journal in which the article will be published must be within at least the top 5% of the Scopus index.
o The budget allocated for the publication of the research article can be up to 10% of the project budget, not exceeding 200,000 TL.
Increased congress participation budget to be applied to all project types and researchers
The congress participation budget within the scope of projects has been increased by 50% and will be applied to all project types and researchers.
o Europe and Near Continent: 60,000 TL
o USA and Far Continent: 75,000 TL
