ITU's Success in QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025

ITU ranked 344th and was in the top 19.7% of 1744 institutions evaluated worldwide in the QS WUR: Sustainability 2025. Our university ranked 59th among 661 institutions in Asia and 158th globally in the "Environmental Education performance indicator". ITU also ranked 1st in Türkiye in the Environmental Impact and Governance categories.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues to achieve remarkable results in academic rankings for its work in the sustainability field.

According to the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025 results, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) ranked 344th globally among 1744 institutions and 59th among 661 institutions in Asia. Notably, ITU ranked 2nd among 36 universities in Türkiye.

Our university ranked 1st in Türkiye in the Environmental Impact and Governance categories, and in the “Environmental Education” and “Good Governance” performance indicators.

In the "Environmental Impact" category, ITU significantly improved its position, rising from 306th to 158th place in the "Environmental Education" performance indicator. In the "Social Impact" category, ITU also showed improvement in the "Employability and Outcomes," "Impact of Education," and "Health and Wellbeing" performance indicators compared to the previous year.

Our university was among the top-performing institutions globally in assessments of environmental and social impact, social impact and governance, and environmental impact and governance.

The ranking results, which were released publicly for the third time this year and are announced annually, were determined based on the following weighted categories and sub-fields:

ITU has achieved successful results in ratings such as QS WUR Sustainability, THE Impact, and UI Greenmetric, thanks to its sustainability-focused institutional philosophy.
