Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu commented on the results of the 2025 QS European University Rankings as follows: “ITU has a very important place among higher education institutions in Europe. EELISA European University, of which ITU is one of the founding partners, has strengthened its foundations with the aim of creating a new and common “European engineering” model since its establishment in 2020. We are building fruitful academic collaborations with universities across Europe. It is a source of pride for us that QS ranks ITU regionally in the European University Rankings, as we see the fruits of these efforts. As a result of this meticulous ranking, ITU ranked 123rd among 685 universities in Europe. Thus, we got one step closer to our goal of entering the top 100 in the world rankings. I sincerely thank all ITU members who contributed to this result.”

ITU’s difference in employer reputation and employment

ITU ranked 57th in the “employment” metric, rising 80 places compared to last year; it rose 73 places and ranked 124th in the “papers per faculty” metric. Our university rose 10 places and ranked 27th in the “employer reputation” metric.

In addition, ITU ranked first among the 72 universities evaluated in our country in the “international research network” and “sustainability” indicators.

About QS European University Rankings

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), one of the prestigious academic ranking agencies in the world, started to compile the regional QS European University Rankings, in which it ranks the universities of the countries that are members of the Council of Europe, last year. Universities are evaluated according to a variety of indicators with different percentage weights in areas such as research and discovery, employment, learning experience, global interaction and sustainability.

In regional rankings, the same data used in the world rankings are ranked according to the same criteria, but region-specific weights are used. The data used is clearly defined by QS. In addition to these definitions, the definitions can be updated in each evaluation year through surveys and analyzes conducted on the institutions evaluated.

Definitions are always applied to all institutions in a standard manner, and shared data is regularly checked by QS. When necessary, QS contacts the applicant institutions and requests revisions.
