Opening Seminar of ITU-Japan Earthquake Research Project was Made

At the opening seminar held on January 17 at our university’s Taşkışla Campus as part of the ITU-Japan Earthquake Research Project, innovative energy damping systems were discussed. At the seminar, speakers from ITU and Kanagawa University made presentations on the work of the project teams.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues its international scientific collaborations and activities to develop innovative technologies that will enable technological transformation. ITU Faculty of Architecture, located in Taşkışla Campus, hosted an important seminar in this context on January 17.

Project aiming to develop an innovative energy damping system

As part of ITU-Japan Earthquake Research Project, a seminar was organized during the Japanese scientific research team’s visit to ITU. At the opening seminar, the project of developing an innovative energy damping system was discussed in detail. On behalf of the Turkish and Japanese scientific research teams, Department of Architecture faculty member Prof. Dr. Oğuz Cem Çelik and Dr. Mamoru Iwata from Kanagawa University made a presentation on the work carried out for the project.

The date of the seminar was specially chosen to commemorate earthquake victims

The seminar was attended by master’s and Ph.D. students, engineers in the field, architects and interested persons from faculties. The date of the seminar, January 17, was specially chosen in memory of the victims of the earthquakes in Kobe in 1995 and California in 1996, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 6.7, respectively.
