Textile Machinery Exhibition Opened at ITU

ITU Gümüşsuyu Campus is hosting the “Textile Machinery from Past to Present” Exhibition. Organized with the contributions of İTHİB and İHKİB, the exhibition is the first laboratory test equipment exhibition held in a university.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues to organize events that highlight its long-established experience in its 250th anniversary. The “Textile Machinery from Past to Present” Exhibition, which provides the opportunity to witness the rapid evolution of technology through textile test equipment, was prepared with the contributions of İTKİB (Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association) and İHKİB (Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association) professional organizations. The opening ceremony of the exhibition, held on the third floor of the Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design in ITU Gümüşsuyu Campus, took place on 9 December 2022. 

ITU Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Şule Itır Satoğlu and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kumral as well as Dean of the Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design Prof. Dr. Ömer Berk Berkalp were present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. İTHİB Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Ali Sami Aydın and İHKİB Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Mustafa Paşahan, as well as ITU graduates, students and textile sector representatives also attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition. 

The exhibition featuring test devices with the best technology of their time, which have been used both for education and for the laboratory needs of the industry since the establishment of the Textile Department, also attracts attention as the first “laboratory test equipment exhibition” in the field of textiles within university in Türkiye. In the exhibition, besides devices from the 50s and 60s, machines nearly a century old are presented to the visitors.
