Graduation Joy of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students at ITU

Our undergraduate and postgraduate graduates of 2021-2022 Academic Year threw their caps in an exuberant ceremony held on the evening of July 28 in our Ayazağa Campus.

ITU undergraduate and postgraduate graduation ceremony, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year, was held on July 28 in ITU Ayazağa Campus. Undergraduate and postgraduate students who graduated from Istanbul Technical University in the 2021-2022 Academic Year experienced the joy of graduation to the full in the ceremony they attended with their families, friends, relatives and professors.

 

249th year graduation joy

In the exuberant ceremony held at the ITU Stadium, a total of 3,270 students, of whom 2,529 were undergraduate students and 741 were postgraduate students, successfully graduated and received their diplomas. Academics, graduates and their families shared the graduation joy of ITU students. Istanbul Technical University, which is preparing to celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2023, graduated its 249th year students this year.

ITU Rector Koyuncu: “Remember that the ITU Family is always with you.”

In his speech in the ceremony, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu emphasized the importance of being an ITU member and wished the new graduates success in their working lives and addressed the students as follows: “Dear graduates… You have successfully completed your education in one of the world’s best technical universities. As a member of the ITU Family, each of you received your diplomas in recognition of your efforts and proudly joined the ranks of our graduates.  I hope that this pride that you will carry throughout your life will open many doors to you. In the following periods, while some of you will step into the business world, some of you will continue your life in the academic sphere. Regardless of your preference, I wish success to all of you. However, I want to emphasize that wherever you go in the world, as you move up the career ladder, ITU graduation on your diploma will be a pride you will carry throughout your life. Whatever you do in the future, remember that the ITU Family is always with you.”

TUSAŞ CEO Kotil: “ITU raised us very well.”

Addressing the new graduates at the ceremony, TUSAŞ Aerospace Industries CEO and ITU 1983 graduate Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil expressed the following: “Istanbul Technical University raised us very well, gave us a very good education. Today, Turkey is experiencing a renaissance in the field of engineering. We have 5 thousand engineers working at TUSAŞ. We plan to increase this number even more in the coming periods. Because today, our country needs well-educated engineers like you even more.”

The enthusiasm of the valedictorians

At the ceremony attended by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and TCDD (Turkish State Railways) Director General Metin Akbaş because of the graduation of their children, İrem Balota made a speech on behalf of the master’s graduates. ITU’s top students Yiğit Can Erçetin (Electronics and Communication Engineering) and Sarp Dora Cebeci (Economics), who completed the 2021-2022 Undergraduate term with a GPA of 4,00, made short speeches. After the speeches, the top students were presented medals by ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu.

In the ceremony, students who experienced the joy of graduation and faculty members were invited to the stage for taking photos. Meanwhile, the names of the students who finished their departments as first, second and third were read. The ceremony ended with the oath taken by the students with ITU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Şule Itır Satoğlu and cap throwing.
