Three Significant Inventions from ITU Scientists

Three important inventions from our faculty members and researchers working in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, and Department of Environmental Engineering Programs.

While ITU has been achieving great success as an R&D university, the academics obtained the patents for three different projects, which they carried out in specific fields. Three important inventions patented by our faculty members working in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, and Environmental Engineering are listed as follows: 

The invention under the title of “Generalized frequency division multiplexing method with multiple-input multiple-output and flexible index modulation” whose inventors are Prof. Dr. Hakan Ali Çırpan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Başar and Ersin Öztürk from ITU Electronics and Communication Engineering Department which obtained US Trademark Registration certificate.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Volkan Sezer, Res. Asst. İbrahim Cem Balcı, Evren Kenanoğlu, and Sina Birecik from ITU Control and Automation Engineering Department were issued the patent titled “Portable Biaxial Drawing Kit,” and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office gave the patent with an examination certificate.

“Biofilm Nitrification - Contact Denitrification System and Method” titled invention by Prof. Dr. Hayrettin Güçlü İnsel, Prof. Dr. Emine Çokgör, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Didem Okutman Taş and Giyasettin Güneş from ITU Department of Environmental Engineering, obtained the patent with examination certificate and it was registered in Russia.
