Cooperation between ITU EIES and Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan

A cooperation protocol was signed between ITU Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences (ITU EIES) and Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan. This protocol is aimed to examine the geoarchaeological samples that will be collected with the permission of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism from archaeological sites including Göbeklitepe, Çatalhöyük, Kaman-Kalehöyük .

Thi signing ceremony held at ITU Rectorate on November 25, 2021 was attended by our Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, ITU EIES Institute Director Prof. Dr. Ali Deniz, Assistant Director of ITU EIES Institute Assoc. Dr. Bülent Arıkan and Prof. Dr. Ryuji Tada from Chiba Institute of Technology. The protocol was signed by our Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar on behalf of our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu signed.

This protocol is aimed to examine the geoarchaeological samples that will be collected with the permission of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism from archaeological sites including Göbeklitepe, Çatalhöyük, Kaman-Kalehöyük. Within the framework of the protocol, it is targeted that both scientists and graduate students work together in the stages of collecting geological and geoarchaeological samples, performing their laboratory analyzes and preparing them for publication by interpreting. Through the investigation of the collected samples, past environmental conditions in different parts of Anatolia will be reconstructed and various dimensions of human-environment relations will be examined in detail. According to this cooperation protocol, mutual student exchange will also be possible.

The representative of Chiba Institute of Technology Prof. Dr. Tada also visited EMCOL, Cosmogenic Nuclides, and and Geobiochemistry laboratories.
