Istanbul Technical University signed a cooperation protocol with Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality in order to support artistic and academic studies at Gaziosmanpaşa. The signing ceremony held at Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality was attended by Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hasan Tahsin Usta, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu and the delegation accompanying him.

Within the framework of the protocol, it is aimed to carry out the Art Academy trainings with a larger academic staff, to expand the scope of the trainings, and to raise qualified students for the University’s conservatory and fine arts faculty.

Speaking at the protocol signing ceremony, our rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu stated that the University has carried out similar studies with many districts of Istanbul before and said, “ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory, which we highly esteem, has raised distinguished artists. In this context, we want to carry our studies we started with Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality to higher levels. As the Technical University, we want to contribute to the youth living in Gaziosmanpaşa in terms of culture and art. We would like to thank the dear Mayor for his interest.”

Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hasan Tahsin Usta, who is also our graduate, made the following statement about the protocol signed: “ITU is one of the oldest universities of Turkey and perhaps the world. It is an honor for me to sign a cultural and artistic cooperation protocol with my university today. In this sense, I would like to thank our conservatory director and our teammates who contributed to the formation of this organization. Our aim is to provide a cultural benefit to our youth, whose horizons shine brightly to the world in our developing country, together with our people. Gaziosmanpaşa is a city hungry for culture, arts, and sports. So, being backed by a university like ITU with its social and cultural academic structure, we wanted to contribute to our city and our people. It is also important to pass down traditional music and instruments to future generations with the experienced professors of ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory.”
